Classical Music with Joe Goetz

3 p.m.-7 p.m. Weekdays on VPR Classical

Joe Goetz is the host of VPR Classical's afternoon program. He joined Vermont Public Radio in 2007. Joe came to VPR from KCME, the independent classical music station in Colorado Springs. He began at KCME while a student, quickly gathering a following. His passion for the music, coupled with his vast musical knowledge and playful approach, make for a delightful afternoon for listeners, whether they are casual or devoted fans of classical music.

Joe holds a B.A. in Music from Colorado College and is a concert pianist. In 2007, as a member of composer Stephen Scott's Bowed Piano Ensemble, he performed at the Spoleto Festival in Charleston, SC and completed a concert tour of Germany.

Originally, Joe planned to become a scientist in the field of meteorology and atmospheric physics. But he said the hours in windowless laboratories soon took their toll. Having played the piano for most of his life, it wasn't until a music composition course midway through his sophomore year in college that he decided to pursue a career in music. An internship at KCME sparked the start in fine arts broadcasting.
